Case Study: Diverse Charter Schools Coalition
“Sharpened Our Communication Across All Platforms.”
The mission of the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition is to catalyze the creation of high-quality diverse public charter schools through strategic research, advocacy, membership activities, and outreach.
With the number of charter schools on the rise, the organization recognized the need to update and standardize their ‘look and feel’ across all platforms and improve their website communications.
As their Fractional Creative Director, Laura developed a strategy to unify the company’s appearance and functionality across all platforms.
In addition, Laura created a plan to improve the communication aspects of the website and enhance its user capabilities. Furthermore, she helped resolve website technical issues, increase brand recognition, and streamline online engagement.
The organization now has a more professional and unified presence in the marketplace.
The implementation of robust communications with prospective clients makes it easier for them to relate their core values and mission, no matter where the online interaction takes place.
In the 5+ years that Laura has supported DCSC, they have:
- Seen a 5x increase in members (as of January 2023, they have 227 member schools serving almost 90,000 students in 23 states)
- Launched 4 member programs with my strategic design support
- Begun hosting annual convenings with hundreds of attendees
- Been featured in media outlets like The 74, NJ.com, The New York Post, Fordham Institute, and U.S. News & World Report
“Laura is not only a great designer but a great thought partner.
Our organization partners with Laura on a number of projects annually and she helps shepherd us through all aspects of strategic design to implementation. We wouldn’t have the look and feel across all platforms of our organization without her. Plus, she’s a joy to work with and keeps things fun.”
– Dave Bryson, Deputy Director
“Working with Laura has really helped to sharpen and clarify our organization’s communications.
From the beginning of any project, Laura acts as a real thought partner in listening to what it is that we want and then sharing useful ideas, suggestions, and lessons learned in order to bring about that vision.
Her expertise has also been helpful when it comes to website updates, user capabilities, and tech issues. As a client, I feel respected, heard, and a sense of joy when working with Laura.”
– Seon Britton, Diversity Program Developer
